Eco-Titan Poles testing scheduled for ENA Fire Standards at Western Fire Center to meet Australian Fire Requirements

DESCRIPTION: The Eco-Titan Utility Distribution Pole has initiated testing in accordance with ENA pole fire tests to insure proper application in Australia and other potential bush fire prone markets worldwide.

ATLANTA, GA February 5, 2010— The Eco-Titan Utility Distribution Pole is initiating the ENA pole fire test method at the Western Fire Center in Kelso Washington. The large scale testing was developed in accordance with Australian Standard (AS) 1530.8.1 to replicate bushfire events where poles are exposed to contact with flame from the fire front as well as flame from adjacent burning vegetation. Fire testing is done following the ASTM D2898 accelerated aging tests. Mike White, Western Fire Center stated “ This test protocol written by David Gardner for the Forest & Wood Products Australia and The Energy Networks Association (ENA) is the test suite expected by Australian authorities” The complete testing cycle is expected to take about 3-4 months. Upon completion, CMT Worldwide and Dulhunty Power will release the results.

The Eco-Titan pole is manufactured with a high performance composite that had its origins in the molten steel manufacturing industry. The original use was for small batch steel production ladles where the composite material held the molten steel at temperatures approaching 3,000 degrees F for extended periods.
